Grandmother detained over death of 11-year-old grandson at Cheonan church

A grandmother has been detained in connection with the death of a child who showed signs of abuse after living at a church in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province.

Judge Park Heon-haeng of the Cheonan branch of Daejeon District Court issued an arrest warrant Tuesday for the grandmother, identified only as A, on charges of child abuse resulting in death, citing risks of evidence destruction and flight.

A is accused of repeatedly abusing her grandson, an 11-year-old boy identified only as B.
