Mapo-gu District Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun attended the appointment ceremony for the third-term Age-Friendly City Monitoring Panel on Tuesday afternoon at the audiovisual room on the fourth floor of the Mapo-gu District Office, expressing his expectations for the members' upcoming activities.
The Age-Friendly City Monitoring Panel is a resident participation group that identifies inconveniences in daily life and proposes opinions and improvement measures on age-friendly policies.
At the ceremony, Yoo presented appointment certificates to the third-term panel members. The members then received capacity-building training from Lee Su-young, an instructor from the Seoul Welfare Foundation, before organizing into activity subcommittees and sharing their roles and plans going forward.
Mapo-gu has worked alongside residents to build an age-friendly city since launching its first-term monitoring panel in 2021. In 2022, the district joined the World Health Organization's Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities.
"An age-friendly city is a process of creating an environment where all residents — including senior citizens — can live safely and conveniently," Yoo said. "I hope you will take part actively, with a sense of responsibility and pride in shaping Mapo's age-friendly policies together."
