Cheongsong-gun draws up W632.3b supplementary budget

Cheongsong-gun in North Gyeongsang Province has submitted a first supplementary budget of 632.3 billion won ($447 million) for 2026 to the county council, the local government announced Tuesday.

The figure represents an increase of 87.3 billion won, or 16.02 percent, from the original budget.

The general account rose 80.8 billion won, or 16.25 percent, to 577.7 billion won, while other special accounts increased 6.5 billion won, or 13.61 percent, to 54.6 billion won.

Cheongsong-gun said it would channel the additional funds into revitalizing the local economy and addressing key pending projects.

The largest share went to a pilot rural basic income program, which received 29.6 billion won.

The county also set aside 7 billion won for logging in wildfire-damaged areas. Another 5.6 billion won was allocated to support the construction of fruit-farming facilities as a disaster-preparedness measure, with an equal 5.6 billion won earmarked for a victim support fund for high fuel prices.

Lifestyle infrastructure projects were also included. The budget set aside 1 billion won to build an LPG pipeline network in Jinbo-myeon and another 1 billion won to repair the Silmulcheon riverbank embankment in Jangjeong-ri, Andeok-myeon.

Water and sewage projects were reflected in the special accounts. The county will invest 4.3 billion won in upgrading aging water supply systems and 1.9 billion won in sewage pipe repairs in Cheongun, Gucheon and Sangui.

"This first supplementary budget was drawn up with a focus on urgent and essential projects to resolve local issues and boost the regional economy under difficult fiscal conditions," county chief Yun Gyeong-hui said.
