Gyeongsan's Imdang Relics Exhibition Hall designated as national heritage custodian

The Imdang Relics Exhibition Hall in Gyeongsan, North Gyeongsang Province, was designated Tuesday as an authorized custodian for state-vested cultural heritage by the Cultural Heritage Administration, under regulations governing the management of state-vested heritage.

The designation gives the exhibition hall an institutional framework to store, manage and make use of state-vested cultural heritage.

With storage and management functions now added to its existing exhibition and research roles, the hall has further strengthened its standing as a specialized museum dedicated to preserving, researching and utilizing local cultural heritage.

Gyeongsan City has managed state-vested heritage excavated in the region since the Gyeongsan City Museum was first designated as an authorized custodian on Oct. 29, 2019.

The Imdang Relics Exhibition Hall completed its museum registration on Dec. 29, 2025, and the latest custodian designation has expanded the foundation for the systematic management and use of state-vested heritage unearthed in the area.

"With this designation, the Imdang Relics Exhibition Hall has completed its operational foundation and taken a major step forward as a specialized museum encompassing the preservation, management, research and exhibition of state-vested cultural heritage," a Gyeongsan City official said.
