Mungyeong City Council seeks public tips ahead of 2026 administrative audit

The Mungyeong City Council in North Gyeongsang Province announced Wednesday that it will accept public tips for its 2026 administrative audit through Aug. 31, as it seeks to make the review more substantive.

The audit is scheduled to run for nine days, from Sept. 9 to Sept. 17, during the first regular session of the 294th Mungyeong City Council.

Residents may submit tips on matters including suggestions for improving city administration, cases of budget waste, unlawful or improper conduct, and issues affecting daily life. All submissions will be used as reference material for the audit.

However, certain submissions will not be accepted: matters related to ongoing trials or investigations, anonymous tips, content that could constitute personal attacks or defamation, information that infringes on individual privacy, and submissions that are too vague or broad in scope.

Tips can be submitted through the council's website, in person, or by mail or fax.

Council Speaker Seo Jeong-sik said the council aims to conduct "a citizen-centered audit that uncovers practical alternatives and solutions, not just a formality." He added that each tip submitted could be "the start of change that transforms our Mungyeong," and urged residents to take part.
