Andong wholesale market moves fruit and vegetable auction to 8 a.m.

The city of Andong in North Gyeongsang Province announced Wednesday that its agricultural and marine products wholesale market will move the start time for fruit and vegetable auctions from 8:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. to improve convenience for produce suppliers and ensure smoother market operations.

The new auction time takes effect Monday and runs through the final day of the Lunar New Year holiday in 2027.

The adjustment comes ahead of the chuseok peak season to prepare for an expected surge in produce shipments, reduce waiting times for suppliers and support faster transactions.

To minimize on-site confusion, the city will brief wholesale market corporations, middlemen and other distribution workers, as well as suppliers, ahead of the change.

"We expect the adjusted auction time to reduce waiting times for suppliers and allow agricultural product transactions to proceed more smoothly," an official at the Andong Municipal Agricultural and Marine Products Wholesale Market Management Office said. "We will continue working to operate the wholesale market in a stable and efficient manner."
