Ansan Urban Corp. seeks public ideas to tackle low birth rate, regional decline

Ansan Urban Corp., led by acting President Kim Cheol-yeon, announced Wednesday it will hold the "2026 Citizen Proposal Contest to Overcome Low Birth Rate and Regional Decline," inviting residents to help find solutions to the country's population crisis.

The contest aims to examine the low birth rate and population decline through the lens of everyday life and uncover practical, citizen-centered ideas that can be linked to the various projects the corporation operates.

Submissions may address any aspect of overcoming the low birth rate and regional depopulation, including work-life balance, job creation, reducing the burden of education and childcare, and support for marriage, childbirth and child-rearing.

Entries will be reviewed by the corporation's proactive administration committee, with top proposals selected in October. Prize money totaling 1.05 million won ($740) will be awarded, with up to 500,000 won per rating tier.
