Advance one-on-one matching set between complex tenants and overseas buyers for KICEF 2026
765 consultations, $440M in talks and $100M in contracts pursued at last year's fair
Buyer pool expands beyond consumer goods to AI, robotics, machinery, energy and biotech
Korea Industrial Complex Corp. (KICOX) is launching a tailored export matching program to help companies in industrial complexes break into overseas markets — identifying foreign buyers' purchasing needs in advance and connecting them with domestic firms before the fair opens. Building on roughly $100 million in contracts pursued at last year's inaugural event, KICOX has expanded the program this year to bring in more overseas buyers and extend matching coverage to the industrial goods sector.
KICOX announced Wednesday that it will conduct advance one-on-one export consultation matching between participating companies and overseas buyers ahead of the 2nd Korea Industrial Complex Export Fair (KICEF 2026), set for Sept. 14–16 at Daegu EXCO. This year's fair will draw 107 overseas buyers from 15 countries, including the United States, France, Japan, Singapore and Vietnam.
The buyer count is up by 17 companies from last year's 90 buyers, though the number of participating countries has fallen from 20 to 15. This year's fair also expands beyond consumer goods — such as food, beauty and household products — to include specialist buyers in industrial sectors: AI and robotics, machinery, components and equipment, energy and the environment, and medical and biotech.
Matching is conducted by cross-referencing domestic participants' products, technologies, target markets and export needs against the purchasing interests of overseas buyers. The aim is to connect companies with genuine transaction potential before the fair, so that on-site meetings can focus on concrete terms — price, volume and contract prospects — rather than introductory exchanges.
KICOX will also share buyers' key items of interest and purchasing needs with matched domestic companies in advance, allowing them to prepare product brochures, price quotes and samples ahead of time. After the event, KICOX plans to provide follow-up support — linked to its export assistance programs — to help firms close actual contracts based on their consultation outcomes.
KICEF 2025, held for the first time last year, drew 300 domestic and international companies alongside 90 overseas buyers from 20 countries. The fair generated $440 million in consultation value across 765 one-on-one export meetings, with about $100 million in exports pursued as a result.
KICOX's push to strengthen advance matching this year is widely seen as an effort to convert a greater share of last year's consultation volume into actual export contracts. The cost and information barriers to independently identifying overseas buyers have long been cited as a key obstacle to export growth, particularly for the small and midsize companies that make up the bulk of industrial complex tenants.
Companies wishing to participate in KICEF 2026 advance matching or the fair itself can apply through the KICEF official website until Aug. 21.
