Damyang-gun announced Wednesday that it held a ceremony Tuesday to present 10 million won ($7,070) in cooling support for low-income families with children struggling amid the heat wave. Representatives from World Vision's Gwangju-South Jeolla Province headquarters, led by director Jeong Byeong-won, and the Damyang chapter, led by chapter head Kim Du-yeong, attended the event.
The funds are intended to help families with children who have had difficulty running air conditioning due to high electricity costs during the prolonged heat wave, enabling them to get through the summer safely and in good health.
As the heat wave drags on and cooling costs continue to climb, the support is expected to help economically vulnerable families with children maintain a more comfortable living environment.
"I am grateful to World Vision's Gwangju-South Jeolla Province headquarters and the Damyang chapter for their generous contribution to children and families suffering through the heat wave," Damyang-gun chief Park Jong-won said. "We will continue to look after local children with care and provide the support they need to grow up safely and healthily."
