Uiseong-gun chief visits National Assembly to secure state funding for key local projects

Uiseong-gun in North Gyeongsang Province announced Thursday that County Chief Choi Yu-cheol visited the National Assembly to push for the inclusion of key local projects in the national budget and secure state funding for their implementation.

During the visit, the county requested state funding for 16 projects across six areas: the Daegu-North Gyeongsang integrated new airport construction, rail-centered development in Uiseong, biotech industry promotion, agricultural and forestry infrastructure, safety and living environment improvements, and tourism and sports.

Key requests included establishing an air logistics hub around the new airport, building a metropolitan railway linking Seo-Daegu to Uiseong to expand regional transit networks, setting up a food tech research support center to nurture future growth industries, and installing a public wastewater treatment facility at the Uiseong Bio Valley general industrial complex.

The county also sought funding to expand agricultural production infrastructure through a drainage improvement project in the Guan district, repair and renovation of irrigation facilities in the Bian and Gaeum districts, and construction of an unused forest resource center and a forest management special zone to strengthen the forestry sector.

Projects to improve public safety and the living environment were also a priority. These included a comprehensive flood and storm damage mitigation project in the Danchon-Gugye district, installation of an integrated biogas facility for organic waste, rehabilitation of infrastructure at Gounsa temple damaged by a wildfire to support recovery and boost tourism, and construction of a baseball stadium in Uiseong to expand local sports infrastructure.

"We will concentrate all administrative resources to ensure that projects essential to our community are reflected in the national budget as fully as possible, through close cooperation with the National Assembly and the central government," Choi said.
