The Ubo-myeon administrative welfare center in Daegu's Gunwi-gun received 60 watermelons from Palgong Care Hospital, led by CEO Kwon Hyeok-min, and Hyeongje Construction, led by CEO Jang Jae-bong, and distributed them to 28 senior centers in the area on Wednesday. The event was organized to mark malbok, the last of the three hottest days on the traditional lunar calendar, giving elderly residents a cool treat amid a prolonged heat wave. Park Chung-hee, head of Ubo-myeon, said he hoped the watermelon sharing would give seniors "the strength to get through the summer heat."
