Security posture review for disaster and wartime preparedness, alongside joint civil-government-military response training
The West Sea Regional Coast Guard, led by Commissioner Baek Hak-seon, said it will conduct the "2026 Ulchi CPX" from Tuesday through Friday to strengthen the country's emergency preparedness posture.
The Ulchi CPX is a government-wide crisis management exercise designed to prepare agencies for active response to national emergencies.
To sharpen its wartime response capabilities, the West Sea Regional Coast Guard carried out an unannounced emergency mobilization Tuesday and plans to conduct a series of intensive drills — including wartime organizational deployment exercises, unit relocation training, operation of a wartime command center, and a live exercise simulating a drone terror attack in port.
Public-facing services — including patrol vessels, police boxes and civil affairs offices — will operate as normal throughout the CPX period to avoid inconvenience to the public.
"The Ulchi CPX is a vital exercise for protecting the lives and property of citizens in a national emergency," Commissioner Baek said. "We will conduct training as realistic as actual combat to establish a solid national emergency preparedness posture."
