Busan offers youth up to 400,000 won to ease moving costs

The Busan city government and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency announced Tuesday they are accepting applications for the 2026 Busan Youth Real Estate Brokerage and Moving Cost Support project, aimed at easing housing costs and helping young people settle in the region.

The project covers real estate brokerage fees and moving expenses incurred when relocating to Busan, providing up to 400,000 won ($283) per applicant to reduce the financial burden on young people who move frequently due to employment or job changes. Last year, the program surpassed its target of 310 recipients, supporting 434 young people with a combined 124.37 million won, and recorded an overall satisfaction score of 96.3 out of 100.

This year, the city expanded eligibility from single-person youth households to all households headed by a young person, and updated income criteria to reflect household size. A new public MyData system automatically links administrative records — including resident registration documents and national health insurance eligibility certificates — cutting required paperwork from eight documents to three. The selection method has also shifted from first-come, first-served to a lottery, with applications collected over a set period before recipients are chosen.

Eligible applicants are working youth aged 18 to 39 who moved to Busan and registered their residence there between Aug. 1, 2025, and July 31, 2026. They must live in a jeonse or monthly rent housing unit with a lease value of no more than 150 million won and have a household income at or below 120 percent of the median. Those selected will receive reimbursement of actual brokerage and moving costs combined, up to 400,000 won.

Applications are open online through the Busan youth platform "Cheongnyeon G-dae" from 10 a.m. Tuesday to 6 p.m. Monday. Eligibility requirements and application instructions are available on the Busan Economic Promotion Agency and Busan youth platform websites.
