Jejuair announced Wednesday that it is launching an AI skills-building initiative for all employees, with the goal of improving work efficiency and organizational productivity through role-specific training.

The airline developed the program — titled "AI Utilization Competency Enhancement Training" — to help staff quickly adapt to workplace changes driven by AI and digital transformation and to familiarize them with new ways of working.

The program spans the entire organization, from frontline staff to executives including CEO Kim I-bae and division heads, as well as team managers. A key feature is its tiered structure, with separate curricula tailored to each level and role.

Senior executives focused on their role as strategists leading the company's AI-driven organizational shift, studying case studies and approaches for building business strategy with AI. Team managers received training on how their leadership roles are evolving with AI adoption and how to apply AI tools within their respective departments.

For frontline staff, the airline prepared three tracks: work innovation, problem-solving, and deriving insights from data. Employees can choose whichever track best fits their job function and areas of interest.

Before the training began, Jejuair surveyed employees to assess their current AI usage and proficiency levels and to gather their preferences for course content, incorporating the findings into each track to improve real-world applicability.

"Employee growth translates directly into company growth, so we want to help our people quickly master new technologies and build the skills to apply them on the job," a Jejuair official said. "We hope this training will turn AI into a genuine driver of work innovation and productivity gains, and serve as a catalyst for strengthening our competitiveness in a rapidly changing business environment."

Jejuair has also been broadening its use of AI across operations. In 2025, it became the first domestic airline to introduce a generative AI chatbot, reducing gaps in customer support. In June, it launched an AI-based hazardous-materials guidance program called JRAG. Through these initiatives, the airline is expanding AI's reach from customer service to internal operational support.
