Samsung Asset Management said Wednesday that its Kodex Money Market Active ETF recorded cumulative retail net purchases of 532.5 billion won ($377 million) since the start of the year, topping all parking-type exchange-traded funds in individual investor net purchases.

Net assets rose by approximately 1.25 trillion won over the same period, bringing total net assets to 7.98 trillion won — the largest among parking-type ETFs. Since the fund's listing in August 2024, cumulative retail net purchases have reached 1.31 trillion won.

Kodex Money Market Active is designed around a money market fund management approach, investing in high-quality liquid assets such as ultra-short-term bonds and commercial paper.

To reduce price-fluctuation risk from interest rate movements and market volatility, the fund strictly limits its investment universe and builds its portfolio around short-term assets with high credit ratings, enhancing overall stability.

The ETF can also be held at a 100 percent allocation within individual pension accounts, including individual retirement pension and defined-contribution plans.

Growing geopolitical uncertainty has sustained demand for the dollar as a safe-haven asset, keeping investor attention on dollar-denominated parking-type ETFs as well.

Kodex US Money Market Active invests in dollar assets and high-quality short-term financial instruments, including US ultra-short-term bonds. Unlike products that invest solely in US government bonds, it takes a strategically diversified approach across a range of short-term financial instruments — including high-grade financial bonds and corporate bonds rated AAA to A-.

"Kodex US Money Market Active invests in high-quality financial assets such as US ultra-short-term bonds while also providing dollar exposure, making it an efficient option for investors looking to manage dollar standby funds effectively," said Shin Hyeon-jin, a fund manager at Samsung Asset Management.

Samsung Asset Management's Kodex 200 Covered Call Active ETF has also drawn strong interest, surpassing 500 billion won in net assets within about a month of its July 14 listing. Analysts say investors are flocking to the covered-call product for its ability to generate monthly cash flow and offer tax benefits simultaneously amid heightened volatility in the domestic stock market.
