Bithumb announced Thursday that it has overhauled its non-face-to-face account opening process, allowing users without a KB Kookmin Bank account to open one through the web without downloading a separate banking app.
Under the updated system, users without a KB Kookmin Bank account can create a new one on the web without installing the KB Star Banking app. With account opening now available through both the app and the web, users can choose whichever method suits them.
The account linking process has also been simplified. When a Bithumb user selects "open account via web" during the account verification step, they can create an account without installing any additional app. Once the account is opened, the account number is automatically copied, and users need only paste it into the Bithumb app to complete the linking.
"We have diversified our non-face-to-face account opening options so that anyone can conveniently use our service regardless of their environment," a Bithumb official said. "We will continue to examine service convenience from the user's perspective in every way to build a smooth virtual asset trading environment."
Meanwhile, Bithumb recently released a prevention guide on AI supply chain attacks to mark Information Security Day this month. Supply chain attacks involve embedding malicious code at the component stage of software development, and Bithumb urged users to install programs and apps only through trusted official channels.
