An autumn evening art walk at Park Roh-soo Museum of Art

The Jongno-gu district office in Seoul announced Sunday that it will run "Autumn Night, Art Walk," a program combining a special lecture and docent tour centered on the Jongno-gu-run Park Roh-soo Museum of Art (34 Okin 1-gil) in the Cheongun-hyoja-dong area.

The program will revisit the historical shifts and major currents in Korean art since liberation, and examine the art-historical significance of painter Park Roh-soo's work within that context.

Held on three consecutive Fridays next month — Sept. 4, 11 and 18 — each session begins with a lecture by docent Kim Ki-wan at Peacebooks (5-1 Okin 3-gil) from 6:30 to 7:20 p.m., then moves to the museum for a guided viewing of its 12th-anniversary commemorative exhibition until 8 p.m.

Registration is available online or by phone through the Jongno Cultural Foundation website. The participation fee is 10,000 won ($7), which includes an exhibition ticket and a beverage.

Also on view through Dec. 6 is the museum's 12th-anniversary exhibition "Landscape and Observation," which traces painter Park's artistic world from the 1970s through the 2000s. Visitors can explore the artist's daily life and aesthetic sensibility through his personal collection, and take part in a media art experience in which their own colored drawings come to life on screen.

"It will be a chance to deeply engage with painter Park Roh-soo's artistic world in the quiet setting of an autumn evening museum," Jongno-gu Mayor Yu Chan-jong said.
