The everyday evening routines of Seoul residents — scrubbing off dead skin at the sauna, applying a sheet mask at home — have now become official Seoul merchandise.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Saturday it is launching the "Seoul Sauna Series," a seven-piece merchandise line that fuses Korean sauna and bath culture with Seoul's city brand and design.
The products also align with the city's "nighttime economy revitalization" initiative, a flagship policy of the current administration. "We included the time spent unwinding at the sauna and preparing for the next day as a core consumption and leisure experience that makes up Seoul's nights," a city official said.
The seven items in the Seoul Sauna Series are the Seoul My Soul Italy towel, the Haetae sheet mask (Madecassoside Essential Mask Scar Repair), the Seoul My Soul travel pouch, the Seoul My Soul recycled bag, the Haetae & Soul Friends shoe charm, the Seoul Color face towel, and the gua sha Detox Glow Ritual Set.
The products are sold in three sets — A, B and C — depending on the combination. Set prices range from 30,000 to 150,000 won, up to 20 percent cheaper than buying each item individually.
The merchandise is available at Seoul Gallery on the below-ground first floor of Seoul City Hall, the DDP Design Store at Dongdaemun Design Plaza, the DDP Design Store's online shop, and KakaoTalk's gift service.
"We will continue to introduce lifestyle merchandise that lets people experience and remember the many faces of Seoul's nights," said Kim Hyeong-rae, the city's public relations planning officer.
