'Kim Gura's son' Gree says divorces of those around him make him hesitant about marriage

Rapper and broadcaster Gree (Kim Dong-hyun) has shared his thoughts on marriage.

On Friday, Gree posted a video titled "Everyone, I'm Going to Get Married Now" on his YouTube channel "Kim Gree."

In the video, Gree said he had long dreamed of having his own home and wanted to tour potential newlywed apartments. He went house-hunting with Nam Chang-hee, playing the role of a prospective groom.

"If I had someone around me like an older brother who just encouraged me, I probably would have gotten married right away," he said. "But while my brother keeps telling me to get married, nine out of 10 people around me are telling me not to."

He added that his agency head Raimer and Hong Jin-kyung had both gone through divorce, and that his father Kim Gura had also experienced that pain before picking himself back up. "There are just too many people around me who have been through that," he said.

When Nam responded that "these days, they say one in three couples goes through that — you need to look at the two couples who are doing well," Gree drew laughs by replying, "In my circle, all three out of three have been through it."

On his father Kim Gura's stance, Gree said the elder Kim wants him to get settled before marrying. "He got married when he had nothing, so he knows how hard that is," he said.
