Dalseo-gu in Daegu won the excellence award in the public disclosure category at the 2026 National Local Government Jobs Award ceremony, organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and held Wednesday at the Korea Press Center.
The district has made job creation its top administrative priority, steadily advancing the "Dalseo Way Jobs Project" — a tailored initiative designed around the region's industrial base and demographic profile — to build a local employment ecosystem where youth, women, middle-aged residents, small business owners and companies can grow together.
Particularly notable were customized policies aimed at getting ahead of industrial change, including support for companies transitioning to future mobility technologies and a training program to develop AI-based manufacturing quality specialists.
Alongside this, the district expanded tourism and service employment by running eco-cultural tourism programs and developing a prehistoric-themed street. It also boosted the competitiveness of small business owners and self-employed workers by improving facilities at traditional markets and restaurants, launching a commercial district revitalization project in Duryu and carrying out a neighborhood commercial district support initiative.
"This award is a meaningful achievement that reflects the collective efforts of residents, businesses and partner organizations, and recognizes the excellence of Dalseo-gu's employment policy," Dalseo-gu Mayor Kim Yong-pan said. "We will continue to pursue tailored job policies to create a 'Happy Dalseo Together' that provides quality jobs for our residents."
