Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-koo Scholarship summer camp wraps up with over 130 scholars

The Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-koo Foundation held its 2026 Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-koo Scholarship summer camp at Gonjiam Resort in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, over a two-night, three-day period from Wednesday, the foundation announced Friday.

More than 130 scholars from diverse nationalities and fields — including global studies, science and technology, culture and arts, Heroes and social integration — took part in the camp, exchanging ideas and exploring their individual paths for growth.

On top of financial support, the foundation runs a fellowship program to help scholars gain broad experience and learn from one another. This year's camp was organized around the theme "Discovery for a Leap Forward," designed to help participants identify their strengths and potential while sharing experiences and ideas with each other.

To help scholars from different fields and countries build connections naturally within the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-koo Scholarship community, the foundation prepared a range of participatory programs: a guest speaker lecture, a career vision board workshop, a scholar-led workshop class and activity experiences.

On the first day, Jang Dong-sun, head of the Curious Brain Research Institute, delivered a lecture titled "Finding Your Own Path in an Uncertain Future." The second day featured a career vision board workshop, in which participants expressed their future aspirations through images, followed by a scholar-led workshop class planned and run by the scholars themselves.

On the final day, participants took part in a review program reflecting on the three days. Scholars looked back on photos they had taken and watched a video recapping their experiences and the new relationships they had formed over the course of the camp.

A foundation official said the camp was intended to give scholars a chance to reflect on themselves, get to know one another in new ways and take another step forward toward their individual dreams. "We will continue to create opportunities for scholars to exchange ideas, learn from each other and grow," the official added.

Meanwhile, the foundation has been actively expanding its talent development efforts, recently holding a scholarship certificate ceremony for 31 newly selected scholars in the CMK Global Scholarship undergraduate program.
