Singer Seong Hyeon-woo, who nearly died in Jeju, denies fabrication claims

Seong Hyeon-woo, a singer and former member of the group Limitless, has again addressed an incident in which he said he was threatened with a weapon during a trip to Jeju Island, insisting there was "no fabrication or embellishment."

In a video posted to his YouTube channel Thursday, Seong said the footage contained "no exaggeration or embellishment of any kind" and reflected only what he had experienced. "There are no lies," he said.

He added that he would not monetize the video.

Seong issued the clarification after the clip, originally posted in February, began recirculating amid a string of recent disappearance and death cases on Jeju Island.

The video has surpassed 3 million views.

"It is true that I thought about a title and thumbnail that would draw people's attention," he said, "but I have never fabricated something that did not happen or exaggerated what actually did."

He also said he had deliberately left out any content that could identify specific individuals or cause social problems.

According to Seong, the incident took place in 2021 at a restaurant near Seongsan on Jeju Island.

He said a confrontation began when he tried to intervene as a man verbally abused a foreign employee, and that the same man later pulled out a weapon and threatened him outside the restaurant.

Seong said he fled into an alley and called the police, and that he was notified roughly three months later that the man had been imprisoned on charges of aggravated intimidation.

Seong appeared on Mnet's "Produce 101" Season 2 in 2017 and, after his time with Limitless, has been active as a YouTuber.
