Yoo Jae-suk fires back after Kim Won-hun asks why comedians always have to be funny

Comedian Kim Won-hun shared his personal philosophy on variety entertainment — only to be shot down by Yoo Jae-suk.

The Sunday episode of SBS variety show "Running Man" was built around a "Will You or Won't You?" race, with Kim Won-hun and singer Kwon Eun-bi appearing as guests.

Kim set the tone from the opening, announcing that he has two sides — a "real Won-hun" and a "fake Won-hun" — and declaring he would show up as "the real Won-hun, with no exaggeration."

He then picked "In the Rain" by Lee Moon-sae and began singing with a straight face, delivering a quiet, understated performance.

As the mood dragged, Yoo Jae-suk and Kim Jong-kook tried to cut him off, remarking that "not many people sing ballads on variety shows." Kim's rendition ended sooner than he had hoped.

When cast member Ji Ye-eun also chimed in — "intros on variety shows shouldn't go on too long" — Kim refused to back down and instead laid out his entertainment philosophy.

"There's something I think needs to change about variety shows," he said. "Why does a comedian have to be funny every single time they appear?"

Yoo fired back without hesitation: "How about you change? I think being funny every time is the better way to go" — drawing laughter from the cast.
