Trump envoys expected to visit Moscow, Kyiv this weekend in potential peace push

US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner are expected to visit Russia and Ukraine in succession this weekend, according to reports.

Sources cited by Russia's state-run TASS news agency said the American delegation led by the two men is expected to travel to Moscow and then Kyiv on Saturday and Sunday. State broadcaster RT also reported that "the two will visit both countries within the next few days."

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov declined to confirm the reports. "We will not announce anything right now, but we will let you know if contacts take place," he said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a statement Friday that he had received details from Trump's staff. "Witkoff and Kushner will visit Moscow and then travel to Kyiv on Sunday," Zelensky said.

US outlet Axios noted that Trump had said "they will come back with a plan to end the war." Ukraine's Kyiv Post observed that "resuming trilateral talks is likely the main purpose of the visit."
