The Seoul Metropolitan Government is hosting a music concert and hands-on experience event at Changnyeongwigung Jaesa in Bukhanseo Dream Forest on Saturday.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government's Northern Park and Leisure Center said it is hosting the "Bukhanseo Dream Forest Fall Music Concert" at Changnyeongwigung Jaesa — a nationally registered cultural heritage site within Bukhanseo Dream Forest — from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, offering activities the whole family can enjoy.
Changnyeongwigung Jaesa is a nationally registered cultural heritage site that served as the ancestral rite hall of Kim Byeong-ju, the Marquis of Changnyeong and son-in-law of King Sunjo, the 23rd monarch of the Joseon Dynasty. The building also carries deep historical significance: after Japan's annexation of Korea, Kim's grandson Kim Seok-jin refused a Japanese baronetcy and died by suicide in an act of patriotic protest.
The festival is divided into two parts: a hands-on craft fair running from 11 a.m., and a relay forest concert beginning at 5:30 p.m. to color the autumn evening with romance.
The hands-on craft fair and food zone, open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., features five sensory craft programs accessible to visitors of all ages.
Participants can take part in plaster figure art, terrarium making, art lamp crafting, sea glass crafting (Sea Story) and deco den crafting. The programs are offered on a paid, first-come, first-served basis to the first 800 visitors on site. Food trucks will also be in operation, so attendees can enjoy a variety of food and drinks throughout the event.
Deco den crafting involves decorating personal accessories — such as phone cases, picture frames, mirrors and pencil cases — with whipped-cream adhesive and decorative parts.
A relay forest concert will run from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on a special outdoor stage set up in the inner courtyard of Changnyeongwigung Jaesa. Performances will include a rock band (Youngstar), a children's belly dance troupe (Nuri Kids) and an electric violin performance by violinist Yuju.
The lineup also features an acoustic guitar duet (Yuljera), an ocarina and pan flute performance (Lee Sol-i), and a tenor-soprano vocal duet (Choi Mun-seong and Kim Jeong-un). The concert is free and open to all visitors at Bukhanseo Dream Forest on the day, with no advance reservation required.
"As September brings cool breezes morning and evening, we have prepared a range of hands-on activities and a music concert at Bukhanseo Dream Forest, where lush greenery and a tranquil hanok setting come together," said Kim Yeong-hwan, director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Garden City Bureau. "We hope visitors will spend a meaningful time surrounded by beautiful nature and melody."
