President Lee Jae Myung shared a Korea Customs Service briefing on his SNS account, promoting it as a government achievement after cumulative exports this year surpassed last year's full-year total to set an all-time record.
On Saturday, Lee posted on his X account — formerly Twitter — a message titled "A report from Korea Customs Service Commissioner Lee Jong-wook."
The post contained a briefing Commissioner Lee had delivered to the president, stating that cumulative exports this year had reached $709.4 billion, surpassing last year's record annual total of $709.3 billion. The commissioner said the milestone was reached in 248 days — 117 days ahead of last year's pace.
In the briefing, Commissioner Lee said South Korea's exports had maintained strong growth despite an uncertain trade environment marked by rising protectionism, global supply chain realignments and instability in the Middle East. He added that if current export momentum holds, annual exports are projected to reach $1 trillion by early December.
