Yeungjin University to recruit 2,309 freshmen in early admissions for 2027 academic year

Yeungjin University in Daegu has launched its early admissions process for the 2027 academic year.

According to the university Monday, it will recruit freshmen across 31 departments and programs spanning engineering, humanities and social sciences, natural sciences, and arts and physical education.

The total enrollment capacity stands at 2,408, of which 2,309 — or 95.9 percent — will be filled through early admissions.

The first round of early admissions will recruit 1,885 students, while the second round will take 424.

Within the early admissions quota, seats are allocated by track: 571 for the general high school track, 429 for vocational high school graduates, 86 through the linked education agreement track, 398 via interview, 420 through the university's own selection process, 385 for lifelong learners, and 20 through an early commitment track.

The lifelong learner track is designed with adult students in mind, offering flexible scheduling options by department — including daytime, weekend and evening classes, blended in-person and online instruction, weekday evening sessions, and intensive seasonal courses.

Outside the standard quota, the university will select 54 students from rural and fishing communities and 76 from basic livelihood recipients. The university graduate track and the mature student and working professional track have no fixed enrollment caps, while certain departments — including nursing, early childhood education and emergency medical services — apply separate limits set out in the admissions guidelines.

Applicants may apply to up to two tracks or departments in each of the two early admissions rounds, regardless of track or department.

High school academic records covering all subjects across all three years will be considered, weighted at 30 percent for the first year, 30 percent for the second year and 40 percent for the first semester of the third year. For students who completed a vocational training program while enrolled in a general high school, those in a two-plus-one industrial track, or those lacking grades for one academic year, the weighting shifts to 50 percent for lower grades and 50 percent for upper grades.

For the 2027 academic year, Yeungjin University will further strengthen its curriculum in AI and digital transformation to meet industry demand, and will operate a range of scholarship programs to ease tuition costs and broaden access to education for incoming students.

All first-round admitted students within the enrollment quota — whether through early or regular admissions — will receive a 50 percent reduction on first-semester tuition, while waitlisted students who are subsequently admitted will receive a tuition reduction of 1 million won ($736).

For students admitted outside the quota through the rural and fishing community, basic livelihood recipient, mature student and working professional, and university graduate tracks, first-round admits will receive a 900,000 won tuition reduction, while waitlisted admits will receive 500,000 won.

"Rapidly reflecting changes in the industrial landscape and corporate needs in our curriculum is what makes Yeungjin University competitive," said Lee Ji-hoon, director of the university's admissions office and a professor. "In the 2027 academic year as well, we will spare no effort in strengthening AI and digital transformation education and customized programs, so that students can translate what they learn here into real employment."

Applications for the first round of early admissions for the 2027 academic year opened Monday and will close Sept. 30. Detailed enrollment figures and selection methods are available through the admissions guidelines on the university's website.
