GS25 overhauls dosirak lineup with premium toppings, dedicated seaweed

Convenience store chain GS25 announced Monday it is launching a "full-change renewal" project to comprehensively overhaul its dosirak offerings.

The full-change renewal is a quality innovation initiative aimed at raising the competitiveness of the chain's ready-meal products. Having already revamped its kimbap, rice balls and sandwiches, GS25 is now extending the overhaul to its dosirak range.

Drawing on customer purchase data, GS25 restructured its menu around high-preference items such as spicy pork, chicken, bulgogi and hamburger steak. The company refined its cooking processes — including texture, seasoning and ingredient ratios — to suit the characteristics of each ingredient, and packed two or more main dishes into a single product.

Side dishes were curated around home-style banchan such as rolled egg omelet, stir-fried fish cake and stir-fried dried squid, taking cues from the table settings of well-known baekban restaurants and applying their variety and composition of banchan. The lineup also adds toppings — including grilled pork neck and mini soft-boiled eggs — along with a dedicated sheet of seaweed.

GS25 will begin rolling out the new products Tuesday, starting with the Hyejaro-un Jibap Jeongseong-gadeuk Jeyuk & Chicken Nanban, followed by the Hyejaro-un Jibap Yukjup Hambak & Ganjang Bulgogi. "We will strengthen our competitiveness so that convenience store dosirak becomes a genuine meal of choice," said Hong Hye-seung, a merchandise manager on GS Retail's fresh food team.
