CJ Logistics holds compliance certification for 6th consecutive year, deploys 60 on-site coordinators

CJ Logistics has maintained an international certification evaluating corporate compliance management systems for six consecutive years. Rather than stopping at headquarters-level policy, the company has stationed 60 compliance officers across its business units to monitor legal risks in the field.

CJ Logistics announced Monday that it had passed the second follow-up audit for ISO 37301, the international standard for compliance management systems, conducted by the Korea Compliance Institute. The company first earned the certification in 2021, becoming the first in the domestic logistics industry to do so.

ISO 37301 is an international standard developed by ISO. It assesses whether a company has the policies and management systems in place to comply with applicable laws and internal ethics rules, and whether those systems are operating properly in day-to-day business.

Certification is not permanent once granted. Companies must undergo annual follow-up audits after initial certification and a full renewal audit every three years.

Since earning the certification, CJ Logistics has continuously updated its compliance framework to reflect changes in relevant laws and the business environment. It has particularly refined its training content to focus on laws that employees are most likely to encounter in their actual work.

Training programs are tailored by rank — covering new hires, newly promoted staff, first-time managers and executives separately. Job-specific legal areas, including the Subcontracting Act, the Fair Trade Act and the Personal Information Protection Act, are also addressed in dedicated sessions.

The company also publishes an internal newsletter called "Compliance Gazette" to help employees stay current on legal and regulatory changes. The newsletter compiles recent court rulings and key regulatory trends for staff to reference in their daily work.

For on-site management, CJ Logistics relies on a network of compliance coordinators. Sixty coordinators are currently active across the organization, checking the compliance status of each department and identifying potential legal risks.

Last year, CJ Logistics was also recognized as a top-rated company in the Korea Fair Trade Commission's Compliance Program rating evaluation. The program is a system through which companies build and operate internal compliance systems to voluntarily adhere to fair trade laws.

As the company's scale grows and its services and overseas operations expand, the range of compliance areas it must manage — including fair trade, subcontracting and personal data protection — will widen accordingly.
