Samsung Medison launches AI-powered OB/GYN ultrasound device, cutting scan time by up to 52%

Samsung Medison has launched the Hera Z10, a premium obstetrics and gynecology ultrasound diagnostic device, as the company expands its women's health solutions. The device uses AI to cut detailed ultrasound examination time by up to 52% and is designed to monitor both fetal and maternal health.

Samsung Medison announced Monday that it unveiled the Hera Z10 at the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology World Congress, held in London from Thursday through Monday.

The Hera Z10 joins the existing flagship Hera Z20 to form the Hera Z Series lineup. The new model highlights AI-based examination automation and clinical workflow efficiency alongside image quality.

The Hera Z10 incorporates the AI-based examination workflow and beamforming technology for enhanced image clarity first introduced in the Hera Z20, broadening the range of premium options available to medical institutions based on their clinical environment and operational needs.

The device also strengthens examination efficiency through AI. Joint research conducted with scientists at Sapienza University of Rome found that the Live ViewAssist feature reduced second-trimester detailed ultrasound scan time by up to 52%. EzStructure, which automates key measurement parameters, cut manual operations by up to 71%, improving consistency and reducing examiner fatigue.

The Hera Z10 also includes features to support the diagnosis of high-risk pregnancies and gynecological conditions. MV-Flow 3D renders microvascular blood flow in high resolution, enabling visualization of placenta accreta and abnormal uterine and umbilical vasculature. FibroidVue uses AI to automatically segment and visualize the uterus, endometrium and fibroid regions, and measures their dimensions.
