More than 150 public and private social welfare workers gathered for communication and solidarity; 31 honorees recognized for contributions to community welfare
Jungnang-gu held the "2026 Jungnang-gu Social Welfare Workers' Unity Workshop" on Friday at Mangwoo Historic and Cultural Park.
Organized by the Jungnang-gu Social Welfare Council to mark Social Welfare Day on Monday, the workshop brought together more than 150 public and private social welfare workers from the district. The event was designed to recognize the dedication of workers on the front lines of social welfare services and to foster communication and solidarity among them.
The first session opened with a ceremony in which 31 social welfare workers who have contributed to community welfare development received commendations. The awards broke down as follows: 10 district mayor citations, six National Assembly member citations, five district council speaker citations, and 10 Social Welfare Council citations.
The second session featured recreational activities and a tour of Mangwoo Historic and Cultural Park. Participants walked through the park, which is the final resting place of prominent figures from Korea's modern history, including Bang Jeong-hwan and Yu Gwan-sun, and reflected on their historical significance. They then joined various programs together, sharing time for conversation and camaraderie.
"I am deeply grateful to all social welfare workers who carefully looked after vulnerable neighbors and steadfastly kept the welfare field going even through this summer's record-breaking heat wave," District Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi said. "I hope you found renewed energy at Mangwoo Historic and Cultural Park — a place whose very name means 'forgetting one's worries.'"
