Selected through public submissions, expert review, citizen vote and live town hall meeting
Goyang Special City officially adopted "Valuable Goyang, Together Goyang" as its city administration slogan for the ninth elected term on Friday.
The slogan competition ran from July 20 through Friday, drawing 618 submissions from residents.
The city narrowed the entries to five finalists through a first round of expert review and a second round of public voting, then held an in-person vote at a town hall meeting on Friday — broadcast live on YouTube — to determine the top entry.
The submitter of the winning slogan, "Valuable Goyang, Together Goyang," received a prize of 1 million won ($738).
Four runners-up were also selected, each receiving 200,000 won: "Dreaming Goyang, Goyang We'll Share," "Center of Leap, Global Goyang," "Goyang Opening Tomorrow Together with Citizens," and "Play Goyang, Fly Goyang."
In addition, 15 honorable mention recipients whose ideas did not advance to the final round but were deemed noteworthy will each receive 50,000 won.
"This slogan is especially meaningful because the entire process — from the 618 ideas submitted by residents to the final selection — was completed together with the public," a city official said. "We will make active use of the chosen slogan so that it breathes life into the policies and future vision of the ninth elected term and serves as a focal point connecting city administration with residents."
The selected slogan will be officially unveiled after a visual design process is completed.
Goyang plans to use the slogan broadly across policy operations for the ninth elected term, as well as in various promotional materials and civic campaigns. For more information, contact the Goyang City Urban Design Division.
