Jungnang-gu Opens Room No. 4 of 'Jungnang Safe Interim Home' to Bridge the Care Gap

Jungnang-gu held a plaque-unveiling ceremony Tuesday, launching the Jungnang Safe Interim Home together with the Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation (SH Corp) at Sinnae Medical Care Housing.

At the Jungnang Safe Interim Home, seniors who have been discharged from the hospital but are not yet fully recovered enough to return home directly can stay for up to two months to recuperate.

Jungnang-gu District Mayor Ryu Kyung-ki and SH Corp President Hwang Sang-ha attended the ceremony that day. They jointly mounted the plaque to celebrate the launch of the interim home and reaffirm the two organizations' commitment to cooperation.

They then visited three seniors residing at the facility to check on their well-being and ask whether they were experiencing any difficulties in daily life. The officials offered encouragement for their swift recovery and return to a healthy routine.

The officials also presented residents with "Rangrangi," an AI care robot that provides round-the-clock safety monitoring along with emotional companionship and health management support. They then demonstrated its main functions on the spot.

Rangrangi is a care device designed to watch over seniors' safety while supporting their daily life and emotional well-being. The district said it is using the robot to help residents of the interim home recover safely and in good health.

The district laid the groundwork for the project in April, when it became the only autonomous district in Seoul selected for the Ministry of Health and Welfare's interim-home model-building project.

Jungnang-gu then worked with SH Corp in June to set up Room No. 4 at Sinnae Medical Care Housing. Since July, it has offered a range of care services there, including home visits for medical treatment and nursing, meal support, hospital escort, and customized in-home rehabilitation therapy.

In recognition, the Seoul Metropolitan Government selected the Jungnang Safe Interim Home as an outstanding case in the autonomous district category of its "2026 Second-Half Excellent Administration" program. The program awarded the home an excellent rating, placing it second among the honorees.

Jungnang-gu District Mayor Ryu Kyung-ki said, "The Jungnang Safe Interim Home is a Jungnang-style specialized care project that bridges the care gap between hospital and home, helping seniors recover with peace of mind." He added, "We will continue working with SH Corp to strengthen an integrated care system that closely links housing and care."
