Daegu Urban Development Corp. joins public institutions in flood recovery aid for Geoje

Daegu Urban Development Corp. traveled to Geoje in South Gyeongsang Province on Sept. 3 to take part in flood recovery volunteer work. Daegu Metropolitan Transit Corp. and Daegu Agricultural and Fisheries Wholesale Market Corp. joined the effort. The region had suffered damage from torrential rain.

The volunteer effort was organized to help Geoje recover quickly and support residents in returning to normal daily life. Heavy rain in August caused extensive flooding of homes and roads and led the area to be declared a special disaster zone.

A total of 23 people from the three public institutions took part that day, including 10 employees from Daegu Urban Development Corp.

The volunteers worked at flood-hit sites, clearing sediment and debris that had piled up around flooded homes and farms and sorting through damaged belongings.

In addition, Daegu Urban Development Corp. and Daegu Metropolitan Transit Corp. each donated 3 million won ($2,240), together contributing 6 million won in relief funds to the Daegu Volunteer Center. The contribution aims to help stabilize the lives of flood victims and support recovery efforts.

"I extend my deepest sympathy to the residents who are enduring great hardship because of the sudden torrential rain," said Jeong Myeong-seob, president of Daegu Urban Development Corp. "We will continue to reach out with a warm hand to those in need, beyond regional boundaries, and keep fulfilling our social responsibility as a public enterprise."
