Gyeongbuk Technopark visits Kosdaq-listed chipmaker Cmtx

Ha In-sung, president of Gyeongbuk Technopark, visited Cmtx, a semiconductor materials and components specialist based in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, on Tuesday. Officials from the Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs (TIPA) and the North Gyeongsang Provincial Government joined him to review the company's operations and gather feedback.

Gyeongbuk Technopark arranged the visit to examine the growth of a company that has expanded sales and hiring and achieved a Kosdaq listing with support from its growth-ladder program. The visit also aimed to gauge how local companies are experiencing the region's business-support policies on the ground.

Before touring the company that day, the attendees held a joint meeting among Gyeongbuk Technopark, TIPA and the North Gyeongsang Provincial Government. The meeting took place at Gyeongbuk Technopark's Carbon Molding Parts Commercialization Certification Center.

The attendees then moved to Cmtx, where they exchanged information on the company's key projects, technology development and growth trajectory, and toured the production floor. They also heard about difficulties and policy needs the company has faced in technology development, commercialization and overseas market expansion.

Cmtx is a materials and components specialist that manufactures core components for semiconductor etching processes, and has grown rapidly on the back of localizing production of those core components.

Its sales rose from 18.2 billion won ($13.6 million) in 2022 to 160.5 billion won in 2025, while its workforce expanded from 93 to 324 employees over the same period.

The company also broadened its supply chain to include global chipmakers and listed on Kosdaq in November 2025.

"Cmtx is a leading growth company in North Gyeongsang Province that has expanded its sales and workforce and achieved a Kosdaq listing on the strength of its technological competitiveness," Ha said. "This visit was a meaningful opportunity to review the outcomes of our business support so far and to discuss the direction of future support together."
