Cheongdo-gun in North Gyeongsang Province held a completion ceremony for the East Cheongdo Nonghyup Agricultural Products Comprehensive Distribution Center on Sept. 9. About 500 people, including officials and local farmers, attended the event at the East Cheongdo Nonghyup distribution center.
The center is a multipurpose distribution hub equipped with facilities for farmer education as well as the sorting, storage and distribution of agricultural products. It is expected to serve as infrastructure that boosts the marketability of local produce and improves distribution efficiency.
The project was selected in 2024 for the Field Crop Cooperative Management Body Support Project and the Forest Product Comprehensive Distribution Center Project, drawing a combined 2.5 billion won ($1.86 million) in state, provincial and county funding.
The completion of the distribution center is expected to strengthen the sorting, storage and distribution infrastructure for Cheongdo's signature agricultural products, particularly grapes, persimmons and raspberries, helping raise the products' added value, secure stable sales channels and boost farmers' incomes.
"I hope the East Cheongdo Nonghyup Agricultural Products Comprehensive Distribution Center will become a solid hub for agricultural product distribution and play a major role in ensuring quality produce receives fair prices, while growing into a sustainable local industry," said Park Kwon-hyun, the Cheongdo County governor.
