483 pass written exam for grade 5 civil service, diplomat candidate posts

The Ministry of Personnel Management announced Thursday that 483 candidates passed the second-stage written exam for the open competitive recruitment of grade 5 civil servants and the selection of diplomat candidates. The results were released through the government's civil service recruitment system.

Among the 431 candidates who passed the grade 5 exam, 126 were in science and technology fields and 305 in administrative fields, while 52 candidates passed the diplomat selection exam.

The passing score for the general civil engineering track under the science and technology category, which is recruited nationwide, was 74.11 points, down 2.66 points from last year's 76.77. Meanwhile, the passing score for the general administration track under the administrative category, also recruited nationwide, rose 3.5 points to 56.33 from 52.83 last year.

For diplomat candidates in the general diplomacy field, the passing score rose slightly to 64.85 points, up 0.33 points from 64.52 last year.

The average age of successful candidates was 28.2 for science and technology positions, 27.9 for administrative positions, and 27.9 for diplomat candidates, similar to last year's figures. Among all who passed, 314, or 65 percent, were men and 169, or 35 percent, were women.

The third stage of the selection process, the interview, will take place at the Gwacheon branch of the National Human Resources Development Institute from Oct. 12-15. Final results are expected to be announced Oct. 30.
