Naju links senior jobs program with dementia prevention efforts

City ties dementia prevention education, awareness campaigns and early screening to senior job program

Naju is linking its senior job program with dementia prevention, early screening and tailored services, aiming to support both social participation and health management among older residents.

According to Naju on Friday, the Naju Dementia Care Center and the Naju Senior Club signed an MOU on Thursday at the dementia care center to help overcome dementia.

The agreement is designed to give local senior citizens stable jobs and opportunities for social participation. It also links senior job activities with dementia prevention and management programs, laying the groundwork for early detection of dementia and access to appropriate services.

Under the agreement, the two organizations will connect senior job program participants with activities at the dementia care center. They will also build a cooperative system covering dementia prevention and management broadly, including dementia prevention education, awareness campaigns and early screening.

In particular, when suspected dementia symptoms or high-risk cases are identified during job activities, the organizations will strengthen cooperation to quickly refer such individuals to the dementia care center for professional screening and counseling. They will also provide services tailored to each person's needs.

They will also work together to spread accurate information about dementia in the community and foster a culture of understanding and consideration for dementia patients and their families. This will help create a more dementia-friendly environment.

Naju plans to use the agreement as an opportunity to organically link its senior job program with health and welfare services. It will also reinforce a tighter management system for preventing and detecting dementia early within the community.

"Linking the senior job program with dementia prevention and management projects can expand opportunities for older residents to participate in society, while also helping to prevent and detect dementia early in their daily lives," a Naju city official said. "We will actively connect the expertise and resources of both organizations to help senior citizens enjoy healthier and more vibrant lives in old age."
