Keimyung University announced Friday that faculty members in its Department of Mathematics had been selected for National Research Foundation of Korea projects.

Three professors — Jeong Dae-won, Ko Eun-kyung and Jeong Byeong-seon — were chosen for new projects. Together with Lee Seung-hun, who is already carrying out a junior researcher project, all full-time faculty in the department are now engaged in major NRF programs.

The research spans pure mathematics — including partial differential equations and combinatorics — as well as applied mathematics such as numerical analysis, approximation theory, AI and machine learning.

"We will develop more flexible numerical computation methods by relaxing the limitations of existing approximation techniques and continue research applicable to a wide range of data-driven problems," Jeong Byeong-seon said.
