Seongju-gun in North Gyeongsang Province held an on-site training session on the national disaster safety communications network at the county's disaster and safety operations center on Wednesday.
The training was designed to strengthen rapid initial response capabilities in the event of a disaster. About 30 county officials responsible for disaster management attended, including staff from 13 working units under the disaster response headquarters.
The session featured a specialist instructor from the Ministry of Interior and Safety, who covered the background and operational framework of the disaster safety communications network, explained the key functions and usage of dedicated PS-LTE terminals, and led hands-on communication exercises using the devices.
"In disaster situations that are growing increasingly complex and large-scale due to climate change, accurate and swift communication is the core of public safety," a county official said. "We will continuously check our ability to use the disaster safety communications network and maintain a thorough response posture in any crisis."
