Uiseong-gun runs childbirth and parenting support program through Thursday

Uiseong-gun in North Gyeongsang Province is running its 2026 Happy Waiting Program through Thursday to support expectant and new parents preparing for childbirth and child-rearing. The program is being held at the Uiseong-gun Public Health Center and the Integrated Childbirth Support Center.

Key sessions cover healthy childbirth and childcare, including how to bathe a newborn and provide safe care, as well as allergy prevention and management. A session on a baby's first solid foods teaches parents about the appropriate timing for introducing solids at each stage of infant development, how to select ingredients, and safe cooking methods, with hands-on practice making baby food.

Another session on preparing for a newborn's first outing covers what to pack and how to organize a diaper bag, with parents getting to make their own practical diaper bag during the session.

Uiseong-gun Mayor Choi Yu-cheol said he hoped the program would give expectant and new parents the information they need for a healthy birth and upbringing, and help them build confidence.
