Uiseong-gun wins communication award at 2026 Youth-Friendly Constitutional Awards

Uiseong-gun in North Gyeongsang Province won the Communication Award in the outstanding basic local government category for youth policy at the 2026 Youth-Friendly Constitutional Awards on Thursday.

The Youth-Friendly Constitutional Awards are organized by the Youth and Future Association, a nonprofit body under the jurisdiction of the National Assembly Secretariat.

Now in its ninth year, the awards evaluate local governments objectively on policy, communication and youth participation, using a youth-friendliness index to select the final recipients.

Uiseong-gun received high marks for hosting a range of youth-oriented events to expand cultural opportunities for young residents, and for operating capacity-building and networking programs centered on its youth center.

The county was also recognized for consistently broadening opportunities for youth activities and exchanges, and for developing policies and programs that young residents can tangibly feel, thereby fostering a youth-friendly local environment.

"We will continue to listen carefully to the voices of young people and build a Uiseong-gun where youth can pursue their dreams and settle down with stability," Uiseong-gun County Governor Choi Yu-cheol said.
