Yuhan marks centennial with online history museum

Yuhan has unveiled a digital exhibition space offering a comprehensive look at its century-long history.

The pharmaceutical company announced Monday the official opening of an online history museum commemorating its 100th anniversary, bringing together the company's milestones and founding spirit in a single digital platform.

The museum was built on "Yuhan 100-Year History," a comprehensive chronicle compiled for the centennial. It reconstructs a century of growth since the company's founding in 1926, tracing its contributions to public health through digital content rich in period photographs and key events organized by era.

The centerpiece exhibition, "Great Visionary, Dr. Yu Il-han," chronicles the life of the company's founder, who returned to Korea after building a successful business career in the United States and went on to establish the company while dedicating himself to the independence movement. The section examines the corporate governance and organizational culture unique to Yuhan — including Yu's belief in giving back, embodied by his donation of his entire fortune to society, the public-interest work carried out through the Yuhan Foundation, and the professional management system he established early on by separating ownership from operations.

Alongside this, the museum features a range of multimedia content — including a centennial commemorative video, card news and highlights from major anniversary projects pursued this year — and is designed to be accessible to the public at any time, free of geographic or time constraints.

The launch marks Yuhan's effort to extend its brand identity to future generations by systematically preserving in digital form the symbolic assets of its founder's philosophy of social contribution and its professional management system — a rare achievement among domestic pharmaceutical companies to have reached the 100-year mark.

"We hope the online history museum will serve as a window through which people can look back on the past 100 years and share the founding spirit and corporate values with future generations," a Yuhan official said. "We will continue to pursue challenge and innovation as we open a new century dedicated to human health and social progress."
