Hyundai Elevator's all-in-one smart hall button wins Good Design award

Hyundai Elevator announced Monday that its all-in-one smart hall button has been selected for the product design category of the 2026 Good Design award, earning the government-certified GD mark.

The all-in-one smart hall button integrates a call button, floor indicator and information board into a single display, reducing visual clutter while improving design quality and space efficiency.

While waiting for an elevator, users can view the interior in real time through the display, checking crowding levels, available space and whether a pet is on board before they step in.

Beyond the current floor and operating status, the display also shows weather updates, real-time news, key economic indicators, building information and notices.

Physical buttons with Braille markings are placed at the bottom of the touchscreen to improve accessibility for visually impaired users and wheelchair users. For those with low vision who may not be familiar with Braille, the numerals are raised in relief to enhance tactile recognition.

The exterior features premium finishing materials, a slim black panel and a hairline dark metal surface. A slanted rear structure combined with lighting creates a floating effect, as if the unit hovers off the wall, enhancing both spatial harmony and overall design quality.

The Good Design award is South Korea's leading design certification program, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and administered by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion. Since 1985, the GD mark has been granted to products recognized for design excellence, with selections based on a comprehensive evaluation of design, function, materials, usability and cost-effectiveness.

"The all-in-one smart hall button was designed with safety, convenience and space efficiency in mind — from the moment a user waits for the elevator to the moment they finish their ride," a Hyundai Elevator official said. "We will continue to expand user-centered design so that all customers can equally benefit from technological innovation."
