4 Ulsan universities break down campus barriers with joint festival

Four universities in Ulsan — the University of Ulsan, Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), Ulsan College of Science, and Chunhae Health Science College — will hold the 1st Ulsan University Alliance Festival over two days, Wednesday and Thursday, at the University of Ulsan and Babo Intersection in front of the university's main gate.

The festival was organized by the student council presidents of the four universities with the aim of breaking down barriers between campuses and spreading youth-led cultural activities throughout the broader community.

The joint festival is expected to build momentum alongside a separate "Ulsan Youth Week" event, which runs Friday and Saturday at Taehwagang Sports Park and is designed to energize young people in the region.

On the first day, Wednesday, the University of Ulsan will host a joint song competition among the four schools, club performances, and a guest singer stage. On the second day, Thursday, the venue shifts to Babo Intersection — the commercial heart of the university district — where community-oriented programs including an outdoor market will be held to support the area's alley businesses.

"We expect this first alliance festival, planned and prepared by local youth themselves, to break down the walls between universities and create a space where residents and small business owners can come together," a Ulsan city official said.
