HL D&I Halla holds tech competition with 69 partner firms; 3D defect inspection, AI moving solution wins top prize

HL D&I Halla has joined forces with its partner companies to identify innovative technologies as the construction industry adapts to advances in AI, robotics and carbon neutrality.

The company announced Tuesday that it held its seventh annual technology competition at the HL Human Resources Development Institute in Giheung, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.

Now in its seventh year, the competition was designed to help the company respond to shifting technology paradigms in the construction sector and secure future competitiveness by identifying standout technologies. President Hong Seok-hwa, employee judges and representatives from partner firms attended the event.

A total of 69 partner companies participated, submitting 85 technology proposals. Six entries advanced to the final round after two rounds of preliminary evaluation by working-level staff. Judges assessed each proposal on criteria including technological improvement, scalability, completeness, effort, originality and ESG considerations, ultimately selecting one top prize winner, two excellence award winners and three encouragement award winners.

The top prize went to Pyeonghaeong Gonggan for its "3D defect inspection and AI moving-arrangement solution." The excellence award was shared by iParking for its "AI roofless parking control system" and Taekhan for its "auto-disconnect PHC pile lifting system."

The three encouragement awards went to Jungwon Engineering for its "dual water-flow detection alarm valve," GL E&C for its "lift AI safety system" and Yuhyeon Construction for its "vibration-free rock-breaking excavation method and device."

"We will continue to identify outstanding technologies through communication and collaboration with partner companies and a wide range of stakeholders," an HL D&I Halla official said. "We aim to boost productivity at construction sites, develop differentiated residential products and strengthen the brand competitiveness of Efete."

Meanwhile, HL D&I Halla plans to continue new supply in key areas of Seoul and the greater metropolitan area in the second half of this year, including a mixed-use development project in Donuimun Zone 2 in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. The company said it intends to reinforce the Efete brand's competitiveness at prime locations going forward.
