Samsung Electronics' HVAC unit Flakt Group kicks off Korea hiring ahead of Monday groundbreaking

Flakt Group Korea, the HVAC subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, is set to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for its new production line in Gwangju, South Jeolla Province, on Monday, and has begun recruiting local staff to support the operation.

According to industry sources, Flakt Group Korea has launched its first hiring drive since establishing its Korean subsidiary, seeking experienced candidates to handle finance, logistics and procurement for the new facility.

The positions are based at a knowledge industry center inside the Cheomdan Science and Industry Complex in Buk-gu, Gwangju — a roughly 10-minute walk from the third campus of Samsung Electronics' Gwangju plant, where the new production line will be built.

Key responsibilities will span accounting and finance, import logistics, and purchasing and order management. Given that the business is in its early stages, hires are expected to work closely with accounting and logistics partners as well as government agencies to support overall operations.

Samsung Electronics acquired Germany-based Flakt Group in November last year, bringing it in as a subsidiary as part of a push into the central air-conditioning market targeting AI data centers.

Flakt Group develops and supplies HVAC equipment and solutions for AI data centers, covering both air cooling and liquid cooling, in collaboration with data center operators.

The company established its Korean subsidiary in May and opened an office in Suwon's Yeongtong-gu — where Samsung Electronics is headquartered — last month, before announcing a 240 billion won ($178 million) investment to build an HVAC production line in Gwangju.

The facility will be Flakt Group's 15th global production site and marks Samsung Electronics' largest production investment in the Gwangju area in 37 years, since it first established its Gwangju plant in 1989.

The new production line will be located at the third campus of Samsung Electronics' Gwangju plant in Buk-gu, on a site spanning 21,780 square meters — roughly the size of three soccer fields.

Flakt Group Korea will hold its groundbreaking ceremony Monday, officially launching construction. Once complete, the line is expected to begin full operation in early 2028, producing core cooling products including coolant distribution units.

The plant will also manufacture fan wall units for data center air cooling, computer room air handlers and air handling units for large buildings, positioning it as a key production hub targeting the global AI data center market.

Samsung Electronics plans to use the new production line to integrate Flakt Group's technology and manufacturing capabilities into its domestic operations, accelerating its global HVAC business as a new growth engine. Local hiring is expected to grow in step with Flakt Group Korea's expansion.
