Daegu chapter of Democratic Party asks party leader to include Kyungpook National University in '10 Seoul National Universities' project

The Democratic Party of Korea's Daegu chapter has asked the party leadership to include Kyungpook National University in a follow-up selection round for the Ministry of Education's "10 Seoul National Universities" initiative, after the school was left out of the first round.

Park Hyeong-ryong, chairman of the Democratic Party's Daegu chapter, delivered a resolution calling for Kyungpook National University's inclusion in a follow-up round to party leader Kim Min-seok at a joint meeting of the party's metropolitan and provincial chapter chairs held Tuesday.

Earlier, the Daegu chapter held a standing committee meeting Monday and adopted the resolution urging the university's inclusion in a follow-up round.

Presenting the resolution, Park said Kyungpook National University's role is critical for the Daegu-North Gyeongsang Province region to emerge as one of the five growth poles under the "five poles, three special zones" regional-led development framework. "We ask the party leadership to work hard to ensure Kyungpook National University is selected in the follow-up round as soon as possible," he said.
