'Beef' season 2 wins 3 Emmy Awards but misses best series

"Beef" season 2, the Netflix series directed by Korean American Lee Sung-jin, 45, was nominated for best series at the Emmy Awards — the most prestigious television awards ceremony in the United States — but did not win.

The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards were held Monday (local time) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. "DTF St. Louis" won the outstanding limited or anthology series award.

"Beef" season 2 received 16 nominations across 14 categories, including best series and lead acting awards, but was limited to three wins — outstanding sound mixing, outstanding sound editing and outstanding costume design — all collected at the Creative Arts Emmy ceremonies on Saturday and Sunday. Youn Yuh-jung, who played billionaire Korean chairman Park, was nominated for supporting actress at the Creative Arts ceremony but did not win. Season 1 of "Beef" won eight Emmy Awards in 2024, including best series and lead acting honors.

The Apple TV+ series "Widows' Bay" drew wide attention by winning 14 awards across categories including best comedy series, directing, writing and lead actor.
