Daegu Health College's clinical laboratory science department announced Wednesday that 15 people — 11 current students and four graduates — passed the 2026 Level 2 laboratory animal technician certification exam administered by the Korean Association for Laboratory Animal Science.
The certification exam tests knowledge and practical skills required for animal experimentation, including animal restraint, drug administration, blood collection and necropsy.
Certificate holders can have their expertise recognized at life science research institutions, pharmaceutical and biotech companies, and animal testing laboratories.
The department produced 13 passing current students and four students from its professional master's program last year, and continued that record this year with another strong group of successful candidates.
This year was particularly notable because the university was selected for the Ministry of Education and Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology's "Youth Leap Talent Development Bootcamp" project, which extended educational opportunities to graduates. Four graduates obtained the qualification as they continue preparing for employment.
Kim Su-jeong, head of the clinical laboratory science department, said current students and graduates had together earned professional credentials, reaping the rewards of consistent preparation. "We will continue to expand education that reflects the job demands of the life sciences and pharmaceutical and biotech industries, broadening the career paths available to our students," she said.
